Bath Road Rally
A day of fun, discovery, thanks and history is planned for Sunday, Sept. 7, courtesy of the Bath Historical Society (BHS) and the Bath Business Association (BBA), and all takes place or starts from the historic Stony Hill Schoolhouse at 49 N. Hametown Road.
The day starts at 1 p.m. when the BHS will open the 1892 one-room schoolhouse, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and which reflects the times and schooling from the turn of the last century. The schoolhouse, which is currently a museum under the direction of the BHS, was one of nine one-room schoolhouses used for educating the children in early Bath Township.
Before or after your tour of the schoolhouse, partake in the annual BHS’s old-fashioned Ice Cream Social. Members of the historical society will serve ice cream, cake and lemonade from 1 to 3 p.m. free to the Bath community as a “thank you” for the community’s support of numerous projects, including The Bath Museum and the Stony Hill Schoolhouse. For more details about the ice cream social, check out firstname.lastname@example.org.
In a case of having dessert first, once the Ice Cream Social concludes, the BBA’s annual photographic road rally takes center stage, starting at 3 p.m. It’s a case of “I know I have seen that … barn, sign, planter, landmark … but where?” as teams try to locate a series of photographs in this fun, non-timed event. Each rally team will be provided with up to 16 photographs and sent on their way to travel the byways of Bath to secure the address locations of those photos.
Cost of the rally is $10 per vehicle, regardless of number of participants and whether the vehicle is a car, truck, motorcycle or bike!
Once all (or in many cases, most) of the addresses have been located, rally participants convene back at the Stony Hill Schoolhouse where winners will be celebrated and dinner will be served. The dinner, catered by Gasoline Alley, is available for $10 per person.
Any and all are welcome, and there is no need to be a member of the Bath community or the BBA to participate in either the road rally or the dinner.
Registration for the road rally and the dinner afterward is required by Sept. 4. Download registration form or call 330-666-3347 for details or to sign up.
