Bath Road Rally
Sunday, September 13, 2015 3 p.m.
Commonplace landmarks and everyday sights take on puzzling significance when photographed and lifted out of their typical surroundings. You know you have seen that sign or lamppost or driveway entrance, but where in the township is it?
That’s the fun and challenge of the annual Bath Business Association’s Road Rally, a non-timed, photographic and fun excursion throughout scenic Bath Township.
This year’s Road Rally is Sunday, Sept. 13, starting at 3 p.m. from the grounds of the Stony Hill Schoolhouse at 49 N. Hametown Road. Rally teams will receive a sheet of up to 16 photographs before being sent to travel the byways of Bath to locate the addresses of those photos.
Cost to participate in the rally is $10 per vehicle, regardless of the number of vehicle participants or vehicle make, model or number of tires.
Once the addresses have been located, participants reconvene back at the Stony Hill Schoolhouse where dinner, beverages and dessert will be served, and prizes awarded. The cost for the dinner is $10 per person; $5 for children under age 12.
Participants in either the road rally or the dinner need not live in Bath nor be members of the BBA; however, registration for both is required by Sept. 9.
Registration forms can be downloaded here. For more information, call 330-666-3347.
Bath Business Association Scholarship
For the past two years, the Bath Business Association has sponsored the Bath Community Garage Sale, with proceeds from that sale used as monetary awards to Revere High School business class students in the annual Business Plan competition.
This year, members of the BBA approved expanding that outreach to young people through an annual scholarship for a graduating senior from Bath Township planning to pursue a business-related major in an accredited college, university or technical school.
“The mission statement of the BBA is to promote and encourage business in Bath,” said Don Corbett, chair of the BBA’s Scholarship Committee. “What better way to do this with the next generation of entrepreneurs than to provide a scholarship to help them achieve their business education.”
In addition to living in Bath and planning to study a business-related major, the recipient should have at least a 2.5 GPA. Also, extracurricular activities, community involvement and work experience during high school will be an important part of the selection process.
The scholarship amount this year is $1000, but the BBA has tied future scholarship awards to the proceeds from the annual Bath Community Garage Sale.
The scholarship application is available through the Revere High School Guidance office for students at RHS. Students attending other high schools or home schooled can find the application on-line at the BBA website or copies will be available at The Bake Shop in Ghent, 800 Wye Road, during regular business hours.
The application deadline is May 15, and the winner will be notified no later than early June. For more information, call 330-666-3347.
